With Colour Mill for chocolate you can colour couverture, ganache and buttercream in almost any shade you have in mind. These fat-soluble paste colours are oil-based. According to the manufacturer, the oil blend mixes evenly into chocolate and gives intense colours. We keep more than 60 Colour Mill items in stock.

Most shades come in a 20 ml bottle. Red, black, yellow, green, violet, pink, dark blue, forest green and Raspberry are also available in 100 ml, handy if you regularly colour larger batches. Alongside the basics you will find shades such as sage, Latte, concrete, Tiffany, Navy Blue, dusky pink and Hot Pink. If you want to try the range first, start with the starter set (12 x 20 ml) or one of the 6 x 20 ml sets: Pastel, Fairy Tale, Pool Party or Tropical.

Colour Mill, powder, cocoa butter or liquid?

All our chocolate colours are fat-soluble, but each is used differently:

Tips from our confectionery

Shake the bottle well before use. Stir the colour into gently warmed or tempered couverture chocolate and add it a little at a time until the shade is right. White couverture gives the purest colours; in milk or dark chocolate the shades turn more muted. Never use water-based colouring, as it makes chocolate seize. Frequently asked questions

Can I use Colour Mill in buttercream?

Yes. According to the manufacturer, the oil blend spreads evenly through buttercream and ganache, so your cake and chocolates can share exactly the same shade.

Can Colour Mill colours be mixed?

Yes. Colour a small amount of chocolate first so you can judge the shade before colouring the whole batch.

Which set is best for beginners?

The starter set (12 x 20 ml) gives you a broad palette straight away. For soft shades, go for the Pastel set with 6 colours.
