Border & cake lace mats

With our silicone border mats you make fine decorative bands from lace paste, also known as cake lace. These sugar lace borders go around the side of a cake or decorate cupcakes, cookies and loaf cakes. The bands stay flexible and pliable for a long time, so they wrap easily around a round cake.

How to make a lace border

• Spread: spread the lace paste thinly into the mat with a spatula and scrape off the excess so the fine lines stay open.
• Release: once the paste has set, peel the band carefully out of the silicone mat.
• Apply: wrap the border around the cake, ideally on fondant or another smooth surface.

What is the difference between a border mat and a decor mat?

Border mats make long bands for the side of a cake, decor mats make single motifs such as flowers.

Can I bake tuiles in these mats?

These mats are made for lace paste. For tuiles, use Tuile moulds with motifs or Tuile stencils basic shapes.
