Square cake rings, often searched for as a square baking frame, give cakes, traybakes and desserts a clean, modern shape. We stock over 15 items: square rings from 14 x 14 to 30 x 30 cm, shallow rings for bases and adjustable frames for everything in between.

Which square rings do we have?

  • Square cake ring x 5 cm: sides of 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28 and 30 cm. The 5 cm height is enough for classic cakes with two or three layers.
  • Square cake ring x 2 cm: in 14, 16 and 18 cm for thin bases, tarts or single layers.
  • Adjustable square frames: from 22 x 25 to 43 x 48 cm at 7 cm high and an extendable stainless steel frame, 46 x 32 cm, for traybakes and large portions. More in adjustable cake rings.
  • Cake dividers: for 24 or 30 slices, to portion a traybake or a large square cake evenly.

Round or square? What to watch when converting a recipe

A square ring with 20 cm sides has a good quarter more surface than a round ring of Ø 20 cm. Adjust your recipe, otherwise the base will turn out too thin. Our article on how to convert a cake recipe explains how.

Tips for sharp corners

Place the ring on baking paper and spread the mixture right into the corners with a scraper. Loosen the edges with a thin knife before lifting the ring. With fondant, square cakes are trickier than round ones because the corners tear easily. Work out the amount with the fondant calculator. More in fondant and marzipan.

Frequently asked questions

Which size for 12 people?

A cake of 20 x 20 cm or 22 x 22 cm, 5 cm high, usually gives enough slices for a medium-sized group. For a traybake format, use the extendable frame or an adjustable square ring.

How is a ring different from a baking tin?

A ring has no base. You place it on baking paper or a board and lift it straight up once the cake is chilled. Tins with a base are in bakeware for cake, round rings in round cake rings. To practise decorating, join the cake decorating course in Adliswil.
