Bake your own dog treats with the baking mats

miniSchoggi is all about baking and creating delicious treats, most of which also look wonderful. But why should such a treat only be reserved for humans? Our beloved four-legged friends are also spoiled with these baking mats. Of course, baking homemade dog cookies means a little extra time for the dog owner, but it's definitely worth it!

If you bake the treats for your dog yourself, you also have precise control over the ingredients. If your dog has an allergy or intolerance, you can simply leave out the relevant ingredients. With a little experimentation, you are guaranteed to meet your dog's preferences. If you also pay attention to ingredients that are good for your dog, you will have fresh and healthy dog treats from the baking mat in no time at all. By the way, depending on the ingredients, you can also try one of the dog treats yourself. They often contain ingredients that are common to us, such as vegetables, yoghurt or cottage cheese, tuna and the like, so some recipes are not only delicious for dogs. Incidentally, this can also be used if you have a sick animal at home that doesn't like to eat or if a tablet needs to be administered. Because what the owner eats often looks much tastier.

The treats are also quick to make with the Collory baking mats. Prepare the dough, place the baking mat on the baking tray, spread the mixture inside, bake, dry if necessary and the balls, paws and bones are ready. Thanks to the many shapes, you are guaranteed to find the right size. Whether you want a slightly larger reward or would prefer lots of small balls for efficient clicker training, you are sure to find the right size! This makes training and rewarding even more fun.

Recipe ideas for dog cookies

When trying them out, you can let your imagination run wild and mix all kinds of ingredients. Then comes the tasting and, depending on whether your dog just looks at the offered treats askance or happily devours as many as possible, you can adjust the recipe for the next time. You should avoid anything chocolatey, as this is poisonous for dogs. In addition, no spicy foods or salty ingredients such as sausage water from the sausage jar should find their way into the cookies.

You can find some ideas here, and there are also many other sites and groups that are happy to share their recipes.

The simplest cheese treats

3 eggs

100 g Parmesan cheese

Mix the two together and spread the mixture into the mold. For very small molds, you can puree the mixture.

Grain-free sausage cookies

100 g liver sausage

130 g cottage cheese

100 g potato flour

1 egg

Puree the ingredients and, depending on the consistency, add a little more flour or a little olive oil. The mixture should be spreadable, but not completely liquid.

Tuna treats

100 g tinned tuna

50 g grated cheese

1 egg

Puree the ingredients and spread them into the baking tin, if the consistency is not yet right, simply adjust a little by adding potato flour or a little yogurt.

Using the silicone baking mat

Once you have mixed all the ingredients, you should briefly check the consistency. Depending on the nature of the ingredients, the dough may be a little runnier or firmer. You can always adjust this by adding a little more liquid or something dry. Depending on the baking mat, different consistencies are also suitable. A thick dough is practical for mini dog cookies. It should resemble omelette or crêpe batter. This makes it easy to spread into the small cavities. For rather large dog cookies, a cream cheese consistency is more suitable. Spreading is still easy, and the baking time is not too much longer.

Now you can spread your dough into the Leckerli baking mat using a dough scraper or a dough scraper. At the end, the surface should be reasonably clean again. It is best to make two baking mats at the same time, as there is often enough dough for two mats and you can bake them at the same time. Then place the mats on a tray or rack and put them in the oven. Depending on their size, they should bake in the oven at 180 degrees for around 20 to 45 minutes. They can then be fed fresh, frozen or dried.

Storing the dog snacks

Many dogs would love to eat all the freshly baked cookies straight away. However, a small supply is of course very worthwhile. If the dog treats are unlikely to remain intact for long, you can store them open in a cloth or paper bag. This will allow the remaining moisture to escape and prevent the tasty and healthy cookies from going moldy. If you want to make them last a little longer, we recommend drying them.

To do this, turn the baking mat for dog treats onto a baking tray and the pieces fall out or can simply be pressed out. You can then place them in the oven at 50° C or, if available, in the Dörex. Check from time to time whether the cookies are dry on the inside. This depends very much on the size and the dough, so it can take quite a while. Once dried, the treats will keep for a long time and can also be stored in a screw-top jar or similar without any problems.

Pre-processing and tempering of baking mats for dog treats

The production of silicone molds often requires substances that could be harmful to health if ingested. However, there is no need to worry, as these do not remain in the material. They can be removed by thorough washing and heating at high temperatures. When buying a baking mat, you should generally check whether any other preparations are necessary before preparing your dog's perfect favorite treats. High-quality baking mats such as the baking mats from Collory are already tempered. They are therefore free from harmful substances and can be used without hesitation for your beloved furry friend. The molds are also BPA-free. In contrast to normal silicone molds, baking molds are very heat-resistant. They can usually be cooled down to -30° C and heated up to over 200° C. The exact specifications can be found on the respective mat.

Cleaning the baking mat

The baking mat for dog treats is not only easy to use, it is also easy to clean. If you can't quite shake off all the dried dough residue on the smooth parts of the baking mat, you can simply scrape it off with a dough scraper. You can then simply place the mat in the dishwasher. Alternatively, you can also wash it with a mild washing-up liquid and a non-abrasive sponge. After washing, it is best to place your baking mat on a cloth or on the radiator so that the silicone dries quickly.
