1991. Poland opens itself to a free market following the end of communism – and with the market come possibilities that simply did not exist before. It emerges from a fundamental business conviction: celebrating is part of life, and the products that make celebrations more beautiful should be accessible, of high quality and affordable. This conviction remains the foundation of the company to this day – and that, whether because of or despite the remarkable growth curve GoDan has undergone since.

From the first years as a regional party supplies provider to Polish market leadership, from there to an export presence in 24 countries: GoDan has been led by the same managing director since its founding. This continuity of leadership at the helm of a company that has grown into one of Europe's largest party goods producers and traders is reflected in a corporate culture that builds long-term partnerships, grows organically and takes its decisions with a clear line. The motto «Party's first choice» is programme in this context: not merely an advertising slogan, but a market positioning that GoDan works towards every day.

Manufacturer, Importer, Distributor – Three Roles, One Strength

What structurally distinguishes GoDan in the European party market from many competitors is the triple role the company simultaneously occupies. As manufacturer, GoDan produces among other things drinking straws in straight and flexible versions, in a broad colour range and to individual customer specification – with direct control over material quality, production standards and delivery reliability. As direct importer, GoDan sources goods without intermediate trading stages, enabling shorter procurement routes, better pricing structures and direct access to the production standards of suppliers.

As exclusive distributor, GoDan represents a number of international premium brands on the Polish market. These include Qualatex – the American premium manufacturer of latex and foil balloons, regarded in the specialist trade worldwide as the quality reference –, Gemar from Italy, known for consistent latex quality and rich colouring, Flexmetal from Spain as one of the leading European producers of foil balloons, and Anagram in the foil balloon area with an extensive licensed range. In the area of licensed table decoration articles, GoDan exclusively distributes the products of Procos – one of the most significant European manufacturers of licensed paper plates, napkins and party articles with image rights from Disney, Marvel and further global licensors. This constellation enables a range covering a spectrum in quality and price that individual importers or manufacturers alone cannot achieve.

20 Billion Balloons – and What That Says About a Company

GoDan has sold over 20 billion balloons since its founding in 1991. Statistically, that is more than 500 balloons per Polish resident – and the number grows daily. This volume is not the result of a single product but of a range covering all relevant balloon categories sourced from world-leading manufacturers. Latex quality is not a trivial variable: the uniformity of wall thickness determines how long a balloon holds its shape; colour intensity depends on the purity of the natural latex used and the pigmentation; tear resistance when inflating is a direct quality characteristic that distinguishes cheap mass-market goods from premium products. Qualatex and Gemar, both in the GoDan range, are regarded in the specialist trade as reference brands in these quality parameters.

Foil balloons complement the latex range with a category of different physical properties: helium-tight, dimensionally stable for days, with a motif variety through metallisation and printing unreachable with latex balloons. Licensed foil balloons with Disney or Marvel motifs, number balloons, letter balloons, heart shapes and geometric special forms cover an area indispensable at children's birthday parties and themed celebrations. GoDan's membership of the European Balloon & Party Council – the leading European industry organisation – commits the company to quality standards and safety requirements that go beyond the legal minimum requirements.

Infrastructure and Delivery Capability – What 5,000 m² of Warehouse Means

A range of over 11,000 products is only as good as the logistics keeping it available. GoDan operates a warehouse of more than 5,000 square metres with a capacity of 4,000 pallets. This is the physical foundation ensuring that GoDan not only offers a broad range but can also deliver it – reliably, quickly and in the quantities that trade customers, wholesalers and retailers require. The warehouse infrastructure is complemented by a showroom of 1,200 square metres making the range tangible for buyers and partners – a facility enabling purchasing decisions based on product and quality experience rather than catalogue alone.

Balloons in latex and foil are the best-known product segment – but only one of many. Carnival costumes and Halloween outfits in various themes, sizes and quality levels cover seasonal highlights. Tableware such as birthday candles, paper plates, drinking cups and napkins – partly licensed through Procos – enables complete table design for celebrations of all sizes. Room decoration with rosettes, bunting, lanterns and paper streamers creates the visual backdrop for indoor and outdoor events. Wedding and hen party ranges cover the key stages of a life moment. Gadgets and event accessories for concerts, festivals and corporate events extend the range to a professional application area.
