Glitter sugar and popping candy bring the wow factor: one sparkles on glass rims and desserts, the other crackles and pops in your mouth. In this category you will find glitter sugar in nine colours and two kinds of popping candy for chocolates, bars and party desserts.

What do we stock?

  • Glitter sugar, 100 g per colour: gold, red, pink, violet, blue, green, yellow, orange and black.
  • Popping candy, 70 g: the classic that crackles as soon as it meets saliva.
  • Popping candy chocolate, 60 g: the chocolate version.

Glitter sugar for glasses, cocktails and desserts

For a sparkling rim, run a lime wedge or a little syrup around the edge of the glass, then dip it upside down into a flat plate of glitter sugar. Cocktails, mocktails and prosecco glasses take on the colour of your party: gold for New Year's Eve, red and pink for Valentine's Day, orange and black for Halloween. On desserts, cupcakes or ice cream, sprinkle the sugar just before serving, as it slowly dissolves on moist surfaces. For even more sparkle in the glass, see our cocktail glitter.

How to work with popping candy

Popping candy reacts to moisture. That is what makes it crackle in your mouth, but in the kitchen it can ruin the effect. So always fold it in at the very end. Fat-based mixtures without water work best: tempered couverture chocolate, gianduja or nut paste. Let the chocolate cool slightly before stirring in the popping candy, then pour it straight into chocolate moulds or bar moulds. In a ganache made with water or cream it soon loses its pop. See it in action in our chocolate lolly with a surprise twist.

Frequently asked questions

How long does popping candy keep popping in chocolate?

As long as the chocolates or bars are stored dry and well sealed, the effect usually holds up well. Moisture is its worst enemy, so never leave them uncovered in the fridge.

Is glitter sugar the same as edible glitter?

No. Glitter sugar is coloured crystal sugar that sweetens and adds crunch. For poured sugar decorations such as lollies or sugar glass, isomalt is the right choice.

Which other sugars do you offer?

You will find the full range under sugars & sweeteners, for example pearl sugar & snow sugar for Zopf and cakes, or speciality sugars such as muscovado.
