Florist tape is suitable for tying beautiful bouquets of flowers, but is also popular for decorations. The ribbon can be wound tightly and thus adheres well to itself. We use it to tie sculpted sugar flowers or individual petals, which are provided with wire, to create beautiful arrangements and flowers.

Florist ribbon Brown

Originally, Florist ribbon was used in flower shops to bind beautiful arrangements and bouquets. With us, the application is very similar — only here, petals, flowers, and leaves made from flower paste and Fondant are bound together. The individual pieces threaded onto wire can be arranged however you like, and the wire is hidden. Depending on the colour of the ribbon, you give it the look of a brown twig or a green stem.

How to use - Florist ribbon

Florist ribbon is stretchy, colourfast, and has a waxed surface. Since this surface is water-repellent, the ribbon is ideal for working with food items such as cakes and Fondant. First, the petals need to be prepared. To do this, thin leaves are shaped from flower paste, threaded onto Floral wire, and set aside to dry. For a more realistic look, the leaves are shaped slightly irregularly and in different sizes. They can also be painted with Powder color or glimmer.

The individual petals are then assembled into a flower, arranged, and secured with the wires. Using the wires, several flowers or individual green leaves can also be bound together into a twig or arrangement.

Of course, it is also possible to insert a Floral wire into a Polystyrene flower cone and model a flower from it. Polystyrene flower cones form the perfect base for the domed shape of various flowers. In addition, arranging the leaves this way is a little easier, and you can create beautiful roses and other blooms.

Once all the wires are twisted together as desired, it's the ribbon's turn. Choose the right colour — light green for a flower stem, brown for a twig, white to hide the wires on a cake — and start wrapping. The ribbon is stretched slightly and wrapped as tightly as possible around the wire. Then wind it firmly, overlapping slightly each time. The ribbon only adheres properly when it is tensioned and pressed down, so you can still make small corrections if needed. The Florist ribbon is wrapped around all the wires in this way, pulled taut, and pressed down repeatedly. Once you reach the top at the bloom, the wire is completely covered, pulled tight once more and pressed firmly, then you can simply cut the ribbon and it holds by itself.

The finished arrangements and twigs are perfect for decorating cakes.
