Sugar pearls are the quickest way to give cakes, cupcakes and biscuits a finished look: a few pearls on fresh icing and your bake instantly looks ready for a party. We stock more than 100 items of pearls and sprinkles, from classic nonpareils to large crunchy balls, all from our own stock, in our Adliswil shop or online.

Which sugar pearls do we stock?

  • Nonpareils: tiny round pearls in white, black, gold, red, green, pink, pastel or mixed colours, usually in 80 g or 100 g packs, mixed colours also in an 800 g pack.
  • Sugar pearls by size: silver 4 mm, white and black 7 mm, gold and mother-of-pearl from small to maxi, plus mini pearls in blue and turquoise.
  • Soft sugar pearls: gentler to bite, such as Funcakes 4 mm white or the Pink Celebration, Blue Celebration and Bubblegum Pop mixes.
  • Super Streusel: ready-made 90 g mixes such as Einhorn (unicorn), Ozean or Goldflimmer, chocolate pearls in gold, silver and rainbow, and XL crunchy balls in copper, burgundy, light blue and more.

Looking for sprinkles shaped like hearts, stars or confetti? Have a look at our sugar decor; everything else for decorating is under edible decorations.

Tips from our bakery

Pearls only stick to a tacky surface, so scatter them straight after icing, onto ganache, buttercream or glacé icing, before it sets. For a neat edge, tilt the cake over a tray and press the pearls on with the flat of your hand; anything that falls off can be reused.

Larger pearls, such as 7 mm or mother-of-pearl maxi, are best placed with tweezers. That way you get precise patterns, dots on macarons or eyes on figures. Tweezers from 11.5 to 25 cm are in this category and under brushes and tweezers.

Coloured pearls look best when added shortly before serving: on moist whipped cream or in the fridge the colour can dissolve and run.

Frequently asked questions

Can I bake sugar pearls?

We recommend adding them after baking. In the oven, colour and shine can suffer and metallic pearls lose their effect.

What is the difference between nonpareils and sugar pearls?

Nonpareils are tiny and scattered over the whole surface. Pearls of around 4 mm and up are better for placing individual accents.

Where can I learn to decorate cupcakes?

In our cupcake courses in Adliswil you learn how to decorate cupcakes. To get started at home, try our chocolate cupcake recipe or the drip cake, which looks great with gold pearls.
