Golden milk is far more than just a drink – it's a little moment for you to pause. Warm, spicy and wonderfully creamy, it fits perfectly into the cooler seasons or as a relaxing end to your evening. Its golden colour and intense aroma make this golden latte a real highlight that you can easily prepare yourself.
For this version you use the practical Golden Milk Spice mix, which already contains turmeric, ginger, cinnamon and black pepper, all perfectly balanced. This makes preparation especially easy and gives you a harmonious, well-rounded result every time.

Quantity:

Step by step
If you're in a hurry: the compact recipe card further down sums it all up.
Preparing golden milk
1
Put the milk together with the Spice mix, the salt and the coconut oil into a small saucepan and mix everything carefully while still cold. This step is especially important so that the spices distribute evenly and no lumps form.
Then heat the mixture over medium to low heat, making sure it does not start to boil. Let the golden milk gently infuse for about five to seven minutes so that the aromas fully develop and the flavour becomes pleasantly rounded.
Take the pan off the heat and stir in the honey and the vanilla. For an especially fine and creamy texture you can briefly blend the golden milk or froth it with a milk frother.

Variation: Golden Milk Iced
1
Prepare a concentrate and pour over ice
For a refreshing variation you can also enjoy your golden milk cold. First prepare a warm concentrate by dissolving the Spice mix together with honey and coconut oil in warm milk. Let this mixture cool briefly and fill a glass with ice cubes. Add the cold milk and then pour the concentrate over the top. If you like, you can also mix everything in a shaker for an especially creamy and modern take on the turmeric latte.

Storage & shelf life
Golden milk tastes best freshly made. But you can easily keep it in the fridge – where it keeps for up to 2 days – and gently reheat it later. Froth it briefly before serving and it will be creamy again.

The milk you choose makes the difference
The choice of milk has a big influence on the taste and consistency of your golden milk.
With coconut milk you get an especially creamy, almost dessert-like version, while oat milk brings a natural sweetness and is ideal for a modern coffee-shop style.
Whole milk gives a classic, well-rounded flavour and froths particularly well. If you use almond milk, it's a good idea to add a little coconut oil so the consistency becomes a bit fuller.
A real insider tip is cashew milk, as it is naturally very creamy and stays neutral in flavour.
Where golden milk comes from
Golden milk has its origins in Ayurvedic cuisine, where it has been valued for centuries. It's particularly interesting that black pepper plays a crucial role, as it supports the absorption of the compounds in the turmeric. The typical golden colour comes from the turmeric it contains and makes this haldi latte a real highlight, not only in taste but also visually.
What's in the Spice mix
The Spice mix contains turmeric, black pepper, ginger and cinnamon and may contain traces of celery, sesame, mustard and tree nuts.
Vegan works too
With oat, coconut or cashew milk and Syrup instead of honey, the golden milk is fully vegan – it's creamiest with a barista plant milk, which froths better.
Frequently asked questions
Black pepper supports the absorption of the compounds in the turmeric and is therefore an essential component, which is also already included in the Spice mix.
Yes, you can simply leave out the honey or replace it with a plant-based alternative such as Syrup, adjusting the taste to your preferences.
You can easily keep it in the fridge and reheat it later. Freshly made, however, it tastes best and develops its full aroma.
