A plunger cutter solves the most common problem in biscuit baking: the dough no longer gets stuck in the cutter. One press on the plunger and the biscuit lands neatly on the tray. In this category you will find plunger cutters for the whole year – hearts, stars, flowers, animals, rings for Spitzbuben and Linzer cookies, plus designs for Easter and Christmas.

Which plunger cutters do we stock?

  • For Spitzbuben and Linzer cookies: Linzer cutters with a heart or star plunger, star plunger cutters in 4 and 4.8 cm, a rosette plunger cutter and fluted hearts and stars.
  • All year round: hearts, flowers and animals for birthdays, Mother's Day or just because.
  • For Easter: spring and Easter designs for your Easter biscuits.
  • For Christmas: including St Nicholas, elves, gingerbread man, snowman, penguin, Christmas tree, snowflake and «Best Wishes» lettering.

How the plunger works

Cut out the dough as usual, lift the cutter with the dough inside and press the plunger down – the biscuit drops neatly onto the tray. Depending on the model, the plunger also embosses a pattern into the dough at the same time. This is especially useful for delicate designs, soft or sticky dough and when children are baking with you: no one has to push the dough out of the cutter with their fingers any more.

Tips from our bakery

Chill the dough well and dip the cutter and plunger in flour now and then so the dough releases even more easily. Embossed patterns stay crispest when the dough hardly rises – a shortcrust like the one for Spitzbuben works well. Wash the cutters by hand in warm water after baking and dry them thoroughly so no dough sets in the mechanism. For the classic jam-filled double biscuit, you will find every shape among our Linzer cookie cutters and the recipe on our blog: Spitzbuben – the classic recipe.

Frequently asked questions

Is a plunger cutter worth it for sticky dough?

Yes, especially then. The plunger pushes the biscuit out without tearing it. If the mixture is very sticky, dip the cutter in flour or sugar from time to time.

Where can I find more designs?

Christmas shapes without a plunger are among our Christmas cookie cutters, and every other shape for the rest of the year is in our cookie cutters range.
