The cake is ready, covered with fondant or marzipan, placed on the appropriate plate and the decoration has been applied. Now only a discreet cake ribbon is missing. This provides a clear demarcation of the cake and cake plate and can also conceal minor unsightly spots on the bottom of the cake. With the right color, the noble shiny satin cake ribbon is also a matching decoration element. It is best to use a cake insert strip, cut it to size and place it under the satin cake ribbon. This way, the ribbon does not come into contact with the cake and you can use the ribbon again.

Cake ribbon - application

You can apply a cake ribbon to a cake with a sponge edge or a covered cake. Before you apply the cake ribbon to such a cake, it must of course be completely covered.

To do this, roll out a thin layer of marzipan or rolled fondant. To prevent the blanket from slipping or softening, spread a little warmed apricot jam on the cake and carefully place the blanket on the prepared cake. Now smooth the top with a fondant smoother or very carefully by hand. To do this, you can always lift the ceiling slightly and thus reduce wrinkles and dents and move.

Once the cake is smoothly covered, the remaining fondant or marzipan is cut off at the bottom edge of the cake. Here, the edge may not be completely smooth or the end may not be hidden as nicely as you would actually like. However, this is not a problem if you have some cake ribbon on hand.

Now glue this to the base with very little edible glue. Make sure that the cake ribbon does not curl. Finally, you can tie a bow as desired or glue the ribbon to fit or slightly overlap smoothly.

So easy you can provide a noble decoration for the bottom edge of your cake. Of course, you can also use the ribbon as a decoration on top of the cake or further up the edge or decorate a cake board with it.
