What effect does aluminum foil have as chocolate packaging?

Almost every chocolate bar in the supermarket is wrapped in aluminum foil and even chocolate Sami lice, Easter bunnies, Easter eggs and chocolate balls are often covered in colored foil. And not just because it looks great! Aluminum protects the chocolate from UV radiation. The foil keeps the sunlight away from the chocolate and prevents it from getting unsightly stains. White chocolate in particular is susceptible to the UV-induced dissolution of fat crystals. This changes the taste and smell. This type of packaging also protects against moisture and foreign odors. If it is tightly wrapped around the treat and closed, the odors from other foods no longer penetrate the chocolate and it remains fresh and delicious!

Of course, the sensory aspect should not be neglected either. The aluminum foils are available in different colors and sizes. They are ideal for various homemade delicacies and enchant with their appearance and the gentle crackling sound when opened.

What can be used as a replacement for aluminum foil?

Would you like to wrap your chocolate bars in elegant packaging, but without the colored foil? Transparent bags also provide excellent protection for the bars. We offer a wide selection of different sizes so that you can find the right bags for your creations.

Depending on the packaging, you can also use chocolate capsules for pralines and chocolate eggs. This works particularly well in boxes of chocolates. If you present them in a cellophane bag, you can also put them in without any additional protection. Just make sure you store them in a dark place.

What is packed in aluminum foil?

Aluminum foil looks great and enhances a whole host of different chocolate creations. Of course, chocolate bars are traditionally wrapped in foil. Chocolates and Easter eggs are also often found in colored foil. Even if you make your own hearts, they can be made even more elegant with aluminum foil. Chocolate kisses with their thin chocolate coating can also benefit from additional protection, but they need to be wrapped very carefully. Chocolate bars are easier again. For chocolate figures such as Sami lice or Easter bunnies, we often recommend a transparent bag or a transparent box with a gold base. The special shapes of the figures are very difficult to mold with the foil and the available pieces are often a little too small for the large figures.

What do you do with the wrapped treats?

Board packaging made from cardboard

When you think of chocolate, the classic chocolate bar is certainly one of the first things that comes to mind. It's simply delightful to smell the tempting aroma as you open the wrapper and break off a piece with a loud crack. Making your own bars with high-quality polycarbonate molds and couverture is very easy, so you can refine them with different ingredients to suit your taste. When giving them as gifts, simply choose the right packaging. Wrapped in aluminum foil, they are well protected and can then be slipped into pretty cardboard packaging for optimum protection. This preserves the delicious aroma and you can admire the treat through the window in the box.

Chocolate packaging

Pralines are definitely among the finest chocolate creations you can find. They can be seen in various shapes, be it narrow, large, long or round. They are all perfect for wrapping in colorful foil. Chocolate boxes with inserts are particularly suitable for chocolates with a square or round base. These not only ensure that the chocolates do not slip, but also look fantastic. Both transparent and completely closed lids are available, so you can customize your ideal packaging.

Cellophane bags

The aluminum foil shines under the cellophane, opening is accompanied by a delicate crackling sound and the delicious aroma of the wrapped chocolate immediately envelops you. This simple but extremely versatile packaging adds a touch of exclusivity to any chocolate creation. They are also well protected by the foil and can be presented elegantly and safely.

Transparent cubes

These cubes impress with their unusual packaging design. They have an attractive design and offer robust protection for the delicious contents. The folding boxes can also be stowed away to save space after use. What could be better than a cube of colorful delicacies?

Special packaging

You can create a very special packaging option for chocolates wrapped in aluminum foil, Easter eggs and perhaps a small chocolate bunny yourself. You can use a polycarbonate mold to cast a large half Easter egg. If you wish, you can finish it off with chocolate and almond slivers after it has been molded. You can see how this works on our blog. The edge can be finished with pretty ganache rosettes and then the nest is ready to be filled. Put Easter bunnies and delicious chocolate eggs inside and place the whole thing in a cellophane bag, for example.

If your creations are chocolate kisses, large heaps of cornflakes or chocolate-decorated patisserie, you will need a slightly larger and taller box. Cake boxes are perfect for this. The treats are placed inside, the box is folded closed and, depending on the box, you can still see them through the transparent insert. Cookie tins are also practical for heaps of cornflakes.

What do I need to bear in mind when wrapping high-quality chocolate?

Once you've chosen the right packaging and made the delicious chocolate creations, it's time to create a fantastic gift for the lucky recipients. It's important to take similar precautions as you would when storing the sweets. To ensure that they delight the palate with their freshness for a long time, we recommend keeping them in a cool place, but not too cold. A dry cellar without direct sunlight works well, while a damp fridge with strong odors from vegetables or cheese should be avoided. Make sure that the chocolates are already cool enough before you wrap them to prevent them from melting from the heat of your hands.

It is extremely important that the product is transported safely. It would be a real shame if the lovingly made delicacies were damaged in the end. For truffles and pralines, you often only need chocolate capsules and possibly some tissue paper around the edge of the box. Tablet shapes are particularly easy to stabilize. In high-quality packaging, they can be easily stacked and transported in a bag or rucksack. All treats in cellophane bags should be transported softly and without weight on top, then nothing can go wrong!
