What are star nozzles?

Star-shaped nozzles are characterized by their serrated opening. They are very versatile and the dressable shapes differ greatly due to the huge selection of nozzles. The number of prongs, their height and the diameter of the opening vary, allowing for an impressive variety of decorations. Depending on the exact shape, star nozzles are suitable for piping delicious baked goods, for piping fine decorations made from egg white icing or for artistically designing elegant cakes and cupcakes.

What is a French star nozzle?

The French star nozzle is characterized by a particularly large number of very fine prongs. They are only 2 to 3 mm high and create a finely wavy surface. We particularly like to use them for piping airy choux and pretty éclairs. The textured surface gives them a great look and they hardly need any decorating. Of course, you can also decorate cakes and pastries beautifully with the French nozzles.

How do you conjure up works of art from choux pastry, shortbread dough or meringue?

Shaping all kinds of doughs and batters that are still to be baked is very easy with piping nozzles and the right piping bag. For firmer batters or batters with pieces in them, you should always use a slightly larger nozzle. You can find many different sizes in our range. As the mixture is then baked, you can also easily pipe it with a reusable piping bag. The harder the dough you use, the less you should fill the bag. This makes it much easier to create beautiful pastries with little pressure.

Now, depending on the cookie, you can pipe differently. For example, pipe pretty bird's nests onto a cut-out biscuit by turning the bag slightly during the piping process and forming a pretty, closed circle. Large dots with a tip are made for meringues. However, you can also make a large S-shape or two squiggles on top of each other for a typical look.

Pretty little hearts are very popular with shortbread cookies. You can also create them professionally in two colors. To do this, pipe a small arch with a slightly longer runner and then pipe the mirror image of this with a second pastry.

As mentioned above, a French piping nozzle creates perfect éclairs that are light and airy and can be filled with delicious cream. But other star-shaped nozzles can also be used to make delicious choux pastries. The slightly larger cream puffs are made with a large star-shaped nozzle. The dough is piped and baked as a small tower or curl, then cut open at the sides and filled with delicious filling. You can also cut off the top completely, fill with cream and place the piece back on top.

How can you use nozzles to create great and delicious decorations for cakes?

Star nozzles are perfect for decorating muffins, cupcakes, cakes and tarts in no time at all, yet still elegant. If required, add a suitable adapter or the desired nozzle directly and then some whipped cream, buttercream, cream cheese frosting or solid ganache into a disposable piping bag. Depending on the decoration, you can cover your pastries beforehand or simply decorate them directly. Now you can trace the edge with small dots, for example. For a completely continuous edge, hold the piping bag a little to the side and pipe a small circle on top of the previously piped edge. Different techniques like this can be used to create very different types of decorations. Video instructions are particularly helpful here. The polka dots, patterns and curls form an ideal base, after which a few flowers made from buttercream or fondant (or even real ones), chocolate decorations or pretty pearls are placed. This is how you can easily make your creation blossom and impress and delight every guest!

What is the easiest way to clean the spout?

Many of the nozzles in our store are made of stainless steel and are high-quality and seamless. However, there are also piping nozzles and various accessories made of aluminum or plastic. The stainless steel nozzles can be easily cleaned in the washing machine. For other materials or particularly stubborn substances, you will need to be a little more patient. Sticky or dried-on residues are best removed after they have been left to soak in water for a while. A grommet brush can also help with cleaning. With warm water and a little washing-up liquid, these can also be washed off quickly.
