Silicone border mat dots and lines

A pattern made only of dots and lines - what sounds boring is properly designed a real beauty. The Cake Lace pattern looks very elegant and is very easy to put together because of the wildly arranged lines. So it is not even noticeable if a single ribbon does not reach around the whole cake and must be helped with a second or third Cake Lace.

Silicone mat and lace decor paste - application

To make the noble decoration you need a suitable sugar paste. We offer 11 different colors of lace decorating paste, but you can also use Cake Lace, Tricot, Magic Decor or Sugarveil. Then pour the paste onto the silicone mat and smooth it out using a metal horn or an angled spatula. Make sure that no gaps are left behind. Excess paste can simply be put back into the cup and kept tightly sealed. For 15 minutes, place the entire mat in the oven at 80 to 100 degrees.

Then try to loosen the solidified paste from the mat at the edge. If this is not yet possible, leave the mat in the oven and try again in 3-5 minutes. Once the paste has finished drying, you can completely detach it from the mat and use it right away. The patterns will stay soft and movable for a long time, so you can make them a few days earlier. If the decoration is packed in an airtight container, it can also be stored for a good two months, but eventually it will become brittle and unyielding.

Lace decor - Noble decorations

The filigree patterns can be applied to different masses. The finished decorations can be placed on a cake or cake or glued to the edge. It is best to use a little food glue to attach to fondant, massa ticino or chocolate. If you use Royal Icing, Mirror Glaze or if the chocolate is still soft, you can also just lightly press on the noble patterns.

The lace decor borders are not suitable for surfaces with a high moisture content. On a cake covered with whipped cream, for example, they would dissolve.

For special color effects, you can easily airbrush the finished border, creating different shades or even color gradients.

Apply the already mixed paste to the mat with a spatula or angled spatula and then let it dry overnight or bake it briefly in the oven at 80°C until dry. You can carefully remove the dry lace decorations from the mat and then attach them to your tier cakes, cupcakes, cream cakes or cakes with edible food glue. The fine cake ribbons from the Cake Lace masses stay flexible and bendable for a long time, guaranteeing you a beautiful effect! You can also use these decorative borders with the amazing lace effect to complement your sugar lace decorations. For color transitions on your sugar lace borders, we recommend that you lightly airbrush the cake tops. This way you can design cakes with enchanting dots & lines borders.
