Freshly made cakes must be taken to the refrigerator or freezer for cooling, brought out again for decorating, then cooled again and finally served. To make this transport as safe as possible, it is best to use stable cake bases. In addition, cake layers can also be used for spreading. This method allows you to spread the cake perfectly and create clean edges.

Cake base plastic Ø 24 cm

The plastic cake base is wonderfully lightweight, yet sturdy enough to hold and transport slightly heavier cakes. The material does not give off any flavor to your cake, so you can use it without any worries. You can easily put your cake in the fridge or freezer with this cake base.

Ideally, these cake bases are also suitable for spreading your cakes. For this you need two identical cake bases, which ultimately serve as a guideline for spreading with buttercream or ganache.

Application - spreading with two cake layers

You can make your cake on a cake base right from the start. Place a suitable cake slice on the slightly larger cake base and spread it with some buttercream. Now you can layer your cake on the cake slice and with the help of a cake ring directly on the cake base. Whether crispy base, airy sponge, cream filling or fruit jelly, all creations are possible and do not change their taste through the cake plate.

Now that you have finished layering and cooling your cake, you can start spreading it. To do this, first spread buttercream neatly on the surface of your cake and put the second cake layer on this side coated with buttercream. Now it is important that the lower as well as the upper cake base are centered as well as horizontally balanced.

Since the diameter of the cake layers is chosen slightly larger than the cake itself, the cake layers thus form a guideline and create the perfect space in between for your buttercream or ganache. Now you can spread your buttercream or ganache generously between the two cake layers and pull off the excess mixture with a metal horn.

Let your cake with the cake layers cool in the refrigerator. Then you can carefully remove the top cake layer from the cake. If small unevennesses have arisen, you can also touch them up now afterwards.

This way you create perfectly lined cakes with flawless edges and cake baking is all the more fun!
