Description

Orange blossom water Eau de Fleur d'Orange

Orange blossom water is a by-product of the production of essential orange oil and is itself also suitable for various applications. The scent is said to have a calming effect and is often used, for example, to help you fall asleep. The hydrolate can also be sprayed directly onto the skin for cosmetic purposes or used in skincare products. In some countries, such as Morocco or Tunisia, it is also used for baking and cooking due to its lightness and freshness.

Application - Orange blossom water

Refine your couscous the Tunisian way: prepare the semolina with a few drops of orange blossom water for a truly festive meal. Fancy some tea? Put boiling water on, add a few drops of orange blossom water and honey to your cup, pour the water over it and you have a soothing drink for the evening. The orange blossom water also tastes delicious when combined with an orange-ginger tea or a mint tea for breakfast.

To give your homemade pudding a summery touch, add a dash of this floral water to the hot milk you are preparing. You can also add a spoonful to your pancake batter. You'll be amazed at the difference!

A sip of the Tunisian sun

This orange blossom water is produced by the inhabitants of Cap Bon in Tunisia and is also used in their own cooking. It is an important ingredient in local pastries, couscous and treats that are often enjoyed at festivities. After distilling the orange blossom, an essential oil is obtained: neroli. The delicately scented water that remains is orange blossom water.

History of the orange blossom

In 1680, the Italian Princess of Nerola is said to have been crazy about the scent of orange blossom. She used the flower water for her bath and herself, and the orange blossom extract to perfume her clothes and the decorations and wall hangings in her palace. In Rome, this perfume soon became the emblem of the family and was given the name "Neroli".

For a long shelf life, it is best to store orange blossom water in a sealed, opaque bottle in a dark and dry place.
