Pain au chocolat - Preparation
To make your own pain au chocolat you will need:
1 rectangular rolled out puff pastry (approx. 320 g)
16 chocolate bars
1 egg yolk
First, roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle. Keep in mind that the dough should have a size of about 48 x 16 cm. Once you have rolled out the dough, you can cut it into 8 rectangles of the same size, each about 12 x 8 cm.
Now you need 2 chocolate bars per piece of dough. Start folding the dough by first placing one chocolate bar, loosely rolling it once, then add the second chocolate bar and finish rolling it.
After you have rolled up your pain au chocolat, you can place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper for about 15 minutes with the seal side down and refrigerate. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 200 °C top/bottom heat or 180 °C convection.
Once the pain au chocolat have rested long enough, you can brush them with egg yolk and bake them in the middle of the preheated oven for about 25 minutes.
And already you have baked delicious pain au chocolat, which you can enjoy for breakfast, brunch or as a snack in between with your loved ones.
