Fir tree cookie cutter with stars and balls

Spending an afternoon in the bakery creating sweet Guetzli is one of the best ideas for any weekend. If you want to create especially classy and colorful Guetzli, use a cookie dough that holds its shape especially well. So you can then decorate the treats with colored icing and chocolate, because the embossed lines make this very easy. The cookie cutter is made of stainless steel and can be easily cleaned in the dishwasher.

Cookie cutter - application

Perfect cookies

100 g sugar

200 g soft butter

1 egg

300 g flour

1/2 vanilla bean, scraped seeds

1 pinch salt

Beat the butter with the sugar until fluffy, add the egg and then stir in the remaining ingredients until a homogeneous dough is formed. Wrap this dough in plastic wrap and place it in the refrigerator overnight. The next day, roll out to a thickness of 5mm and cut out as many cookies as possible. Do not forget to flour your work surface and the cutter, so the dough does not stick to the cutter. Then release the cookies from the cutter and place them on a baking paper. Reassemble the remaining dough and roll out again. Bake the full tray at 170° C for 10 - 15 minutes. With this dough, the embossing of the cookie cutter is still clearly visible after baking.

Decorated Guetzli

Instead of enjoying your Guetzli right away, you can first give them a very special look by decorating them. For this purpose, you mix, for example, an egg white icing (royal icing). Divide it into smaller portions and color them differently. With a cornet, you can then add sweet patterns and colors to your cookies, for example, trace the embossed lines or add some more details. You can also let the traced lines dry briefly and then fill them with different colors of royal icing. You can also glue sugar decorations on top or work with fondant. If you prefer it less sweet, you can also apply wonderful decorations with a little melted chocolate. This turns each Guetzli into a small work of art.

Not only for cookie dough

Of course, other masses can also be used as cookie dough. For decorations on cakes or cupcakes you can use different sugar masses or even modeling chocolate. You knead these a little bit and roll out the modeling chocolate very thinly on baker's starch. As described above, you can also decorate and refine the molds you have made with royal icing and sugar decorations. Finally, they can be attached directly to your creation with a little edible glue from the tube or dried and used later.

Cleaning

The cookie cutter is made of stainless steel, so it can be washed right after cutting in the dishwasher. So the baking is even more fun!
