Refreshing Hugo Recipe

Homemade Hugo and ice cubes

Hugo is a refreshing summer drink that has become increasingly popular in recent years. The sparkling cocktail consists of Prosecco, elderflower syrup, soda and mint and is often enjoyed as an aperitif or as a refreshing drink after a long day. Especially during the elderberry season in June and July, people like to make their own elderflower syrup and use it for the Hugo. But to make the drink even more refreshing, it is best to add ice cubes.
The homemade Hugo and ice cubes are the perfect combination for a hot summer day. After all, who wants to enjoy a warm cocktail when the temperature is high? The Hugo is perfect as a refreshing summer drink that is quick to prepare and gets a light fruity note from the prosecco. Especially the addition of homemade elderflower syrup gives the drink an extra note that cannot be achieved with bought syrup.
But the ice cubes should not be underestimated either. With little effort and a suitable shape, you can enhance the ice cubes visually and tastefully, so that they not only make the Hugo more refreshing and cooler, but also make it shine! A must for every successful summer party!
All in all, the homemade Hugo with ice cubes is a perfect alternative to other cocktails and soft drinks and scores points above all for its freshness and lightness.

You should also definitely use our elderflower syrup recipe for it, because homemade syrup simply tastes much more intense than ready-bought. So what are you waiting for? Mix a refreshing hugo with ice cubes and enjoy the summer to the full.

Pour the elderflower syrup into a white wine glass and then fill it with the sparkling wine and mineral water. Then add a squeeze of lime juice and the fresh mint. For the visual highlight, you can add cocktail glitter and homemade heart ice cubes.

Here's how to make it.

Cut the strawberries into very small pieces and place them in the heart silicone mould.

Once the hearts are sufficiently filled with the strawberry pieces, add a few tiny fresh elderflowers to each hollow. Then fill the heart shape with water. For even more flavour, you can also mix the water with additional elderflower syrup. Place the ice cubes in the freezer for at least 4 to 6 hours.

After the cooling time, you can shape the beautiful ice cubes and add them to the soft drink of your choice. Of course, they go perfectly with the Hugo! However, you can of course also add them to non-alcoholic drinks to enhance their appearance!
