Particularly during elderflower season in June and July, people often make their own elderflower syrup to use in a Hugo. But to make the drink even more refreshing, it’s best to add some ice cubes.
A homemade Hugo with ice cubes is the perfect combination for a hot summer’s day. After all, who wants to enjoy a warm cocktail when the temperature is soaring? The Hugo is an excellent choice as a refreshing summer drink; it’s quick to prepare and the Prosecco gives it a light fruity note. Elderflower syrup		30–40 g
Sparkling wine \| Prosecco		150 g
Mineral water		50 g
lime juice		1 splash
Fresh peppermint		1 sprig / glass

Manufacture

Pour the elderflower syrup into a white wine glass, then top it up with sparkling wine and mineral water. Finally, add a splash of lime juice and some fresh peppermint. For a visual touch, you can also add somecocktail glitterandhomemade heart-shaped ice cubes.

Here’s how to make them.

Cut the strawberries into very small pieces and place them in thesilicone heart mould.

Once the hearts are sufficiently filled with the strawberry pieces, you need to add a few of the tiny, fresh elderflowers to each hollow. Then top up the heart mould with water. For even more flavour, you can also mix the water with some extra elderflower syrup beforehand. Place the ice cubes in the freezer for at least 4 to 6 hours.

Once they’ve set, you can pop the beautiful ice cubes out of the mould and add them to the soft drink of your choice. Of course, they go perfectly with a Hugo! But you can also add them to non-alcoholic drinks to make them look even more appealing!
