Serving pan cast iron

In this serving pan can be baked with little fat pancakes, crumble cake or a tart excellent. The bottom of the tart becomes nice and crispy, but the filling still remains juicy and delicious. The pans love heat, which is why the pan can be placed in the oven, on the stove or even directly on the open fire at high temperatures without any problems. Even reheating in the microwave, does not pose a problem for the cast iron pan. In addition to sweet dishes, hash browns, meat or fish can also be prepared in the pan. Cast iron - with the right treatment and care to the favorite companion in your kitchen

Cast iron is known to be solid and heavy. It consists of iron with more carbon than carbon steel content. The difference with steel, for example, is the high carbon content in cast iron, which is more than 2%. Cast iron also has a much lower melting point, which is why cast iron is very easy to cast into complex shapes and is inexpensive to purchase and produce.
Cast iron also retains heat much better than other metals, which is why cast iron can be used both in the oven and on an open fire. Due to the solid material, the heating process can take longer than, for example, aluminum, but once heated, the heat is distributed evenly and can therefore achieve a perfect result. Uncoated cast iron can build up a non-stick coating in a very natural way and is then a perfect companion for meat, hash browns, lasagna or gratin, but also crumble cakes and other pastries.


How to burn in your cast iron pan

For baking you need:
Heat-resistant oil such as sunflower oil or rapeseed oil
Potato peelings
Salt
Add enough oil to your cast iron products so that the bottom has a 3 mm thick layer of oil. Now place the potato peels in the cast iron pan. The whole bottom of the pan should be covered with it. Now sprinkle about 1 tablespoon of salt over the potato slices. Now place the pan together with the oil, salt and potatoes in the oven and "bake" the pan at 150 degrees top/bottom heat for three quarters of an hour. After the process, the pan must cool down well. On the one hand so that you don't burn yourself, on the other hand also the oil with the potatoes must cool down before you can dispose of the mush. Now you can dab the pan with an absorbent kitchen paper and use it for baking or cooking. If you do not bake cast iron, it may crack. Therefore, never put hot cast iron under cold water while it is very hot, do not put it in the dishwasher, and do not soak it in water because cast iron is also very susceptible to rust. Therefore, you should always bake your uncoated cast iron products before use.


Care instructions for cast iron products

After you have baked your pan, you can use it. This protective film must be renewed every 2-3 years. This means you burn out the pan, clean it thoroughly with water and burn the pan again. This way you can enjoy your products for a long time. Do not put the pan in the dishwasher. Rinse your cast iron products with light detergent and a soft sponge. The pan should not be left wet, instead dry it right away. This will prevent rust from forming.
