Gnocchi and Garganelli board incl. wooden stick
Imagine you are sitting in Venice, at the foot of the Rialto Bridge in a small restaurant, watching the hustle and bustle on the bridge and on the Grand Canal. It is a warm summer evening and you are enjoying a glass of red wine. What goes best with it? Pasta, of course. But since you're sitting at home just imagining it, we have just the thing for you. With the Gnocchi and Garganelli board you can easily make your own pasta. Put yourself mentally to Italy and bring Italy home.
Preparation of the gnocchi
For gnocchi you need firm boiling potatoes. Mash them after cooking while they are still hot and knead them with the remaining ingredients such as flour, cornstarch, egg and salt. After the mixture has been kneaded well, make rolls of the dough with a diameter of 15 to 20 mm. Cut them into even pieces. Then take the gnocchi board, place it on the work surface at a slight angle and put some flour on it. Then take a piece of dough, put it on the board and roll it down once with your thumb. Now your gnocchi have grooves and are already formed. The grooves do not go all the way around the gnocchi. There is a small indentation created by the thumb. It has to be like this, because that's where the sauce holds best.
Preparation Garganelli
What actually are garganelli? Garganelli look like penne, but they have horizontal stripes instead of longitudinal stripes. Garganelli are made from a regular pasta dough.
To make this delicious pasta, the first thing you need is a classic pasta dough. On our blog you can find a great recipe for the traditional dough version. After you have made the dough, you need to cut small squares from the dough sheets. They should be 5 cm x 5 cm. Then take the board, place it in front of you so that the grooves are perpendicular to you. Next, sprinkle some flour on it and place a square of dough on the board so that the square is facing up and down with the corners. Using the wooden stick provided, start rolling up the dough at the bottom corner with a little pressure. As a last step you can now push the rolled up pasta from the wooden stick and you already have homemade garganelli.
Features
The gnocchi and garganelli board and wooden stick are made of beech wood. The quality wood comes from trees from European forests. The wooden board board is 25 cm long, 9.7 cm wide and 3 cm high. The wooden stick has a diameter of 0.9 cm and is 18.7 cm long.
Cleaning
The wooden board as well as the wooden stick are cleaned after use with a cloth soaked in lemon juice. The board must not be immersed in water, washed off and also not put in the dishwasher!
