Basic enrolment option for the course
The ‘Basic’ course participation option is the ideal addition to your course booking, and one you really shouldn’t miss out on. It ensures that, even in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as illness, an accident, etc. (see the full list below), you can still attend the course at a later date at no extra cost.
There are no cancellation or rebooking fees – simply attend on a different course date
When you sign up for the Basic participation option, all cancellation and rebooking fees are waived in the situations listed below, meaning you can register directly for a new course date at no extra cost. If you do not take out the Basic participation option, a cancellation fee of 100% of the course fee will apply for cancellations made up to 30 days before the course starts. Situations covered by the Basic membership option
The ‘Basic’ participation option applies to the following situations; the required evidence is also specified in brackets ( ), so that free participation on an alternative course day can be granted.
- Serious and/or sudden illness or accident (medical certificate or accident report)
- COVID-19 infection and/or self-isolation and quarantine (cantonal order)
- The death or funeral of a family member, including children, parents, grandparents and siblings. In the event of a death, cover is provided for three days from the date of death. If the course therefore takes place within three days of the death or on the day of the funeral, the participation option applies. (Death certificate or certificate confirming the date of the funeral)
- Pregnancy complications (medical certificate)
- Breakdown, accident or delay of the means of transport, whereby the delay must be more than 30 minutes for journeys of less than 3 hours and more than 60 minutes for all other journeys. (Confirmation of the delay for public transport or proof of travel if travelling by car)
- Serious damage to the participant’s property at their place of residence caused by fire, water, natural disasters or theft, provided that the participant’s presence is essential. (Report or confirmed insurance claim)
- New official summonses, military or civil defence (summons, call-up)
Situations NOT covered by the participation option
The following situations are explicitly not covered by the participation option and must be borne by the person making the booking. The standard cancellation and rebooking terms and conditions therefore apply to these situations; these can be viewed here.
- Illness of a friend or relative
- Business appointments, shift changes or a sudden increase in workload that makes it impossible to attend
- Withdrawal from the course whilst it is in progress. You will then receive all the recipe documents and any semi-finished and/or finished products you have already made yourself.
- New commitments such as weddings, celebrations, private and business engagements, and other occasions that make it no longer possible to attend.
- Taking part in holidays or other leisure activities, whether already booked or newly booked
Group bookings for public courses
For group bookings of between two and six people, should any of the situations covered above arise, the entire group may reschedule their participation to another date, provided that all participants have purchased the Basic participation option. If not all participants have purchased the Basic participation option, the free rebooking applies only to those who have purchased the Basic participation option. For groups of seven or more people, the Basic participation option applies only to the specific person facing one of the situations mentioned.
Notice regarding non-attendance
As soon as a situation covered by the Basic participation option arises, miniSchoggi GmbH must be notified immediately, and at the latest within 24 hours of the situation arising. Failure to do so will result in the loss of the option to participate free of charge on an alternative date. In the event of last-minute cancellations (less than 48 hours before the course starts or at the weekend), MiniSchoggi should be notified by telephone on 044 480 14 14 and the written notification – which must be provided in all cases – should be sent by email to info@minischoggi.ch. Alternatively, you can send it by post to ‘ miniSchoggi GmbH ’, Industriestrasse 20, 9300 Wittenbach.
Selecting a new course date
Most courses run throughout the year, so you’re sure to find a new date that suits you. In the case of seasonal courses that are not due to take place again in the foreseeable future, you can also book a different course as an alternative. Any difference in price will either be invoiced separately or issued as a credit note. Under no circumstances will the course fee and/or the participation option be refunded.
Qualifications, restrictions and participation options
The participation option provides one-off cover for the situations listed. Should a covered situation arise, the option entitles the holder to participate at a later date free of charge, after which it expires. You cannot make multiple rebookings using the same Basic participation option. If you wish to purchase the Basic participation option again for the rebooking date, please notify us in writing by email at info@minischoggi.ch so that we can charge the relevant fee. The participation option only comes into effect if the course fees and the participation option fee have been paid within the specified payment period.
Should a course be cancelled by miniSchoggi GmbH, the booked participation option will, of course, remain valid for the new date and does not need to be rebooked.
The participation option must be purchased directly alongside the course. Should this have been overlooked, the participation option can be purchased separately within 48 hours of receiving the course booking confirmation (invoice for the course). This can be done either by emailing info@minischoggi.ch or by telephone on 044 480 14 14. After this time, it is no longer possible to purchase the participation option.
Exclusion of external costs; reference to travel insurance
Please note that the participation option is not travel insurance; it is intended solely for use in conjunction with the booked course and does not cover any external costs such as hotel accommodation or travel expenses, etc. Travel insurance is designed for this purpose, and you will no doubt have taken out a policy with your trusted insurer. Depending on the travel insurance you have taken out, the participation option may not be necessary, as many situations may already be covered by that policy. Very often, however, this comes with a high excess. However, we are unable to assess your personal situation, nor do we know the details of your travel insurance policy; therefore, the decision to purchase the participation option is entirely up to you. What happens if I don’t have a participation option?
This cover is not compulsory and can be purchased voluntarily alongside the course. It protects you from additional costs in the event of a course cancellation or postponement in many situations (see the detailed list of covered situations). If you do not take out this cover, the standard course and cancellation terms and conditions will apply. We would like to offer you this additional security because, in various situations— z.B., cases related to COVID-19—insurance cover is rarely provided, and the excess in such cases is often higher than the course fee. Naturally, the Basic participation option has no impact whatsoever on the course itself.
