Edible cornflower blossoms Mix from Switzerland

Our organic cornflower blossom mix is grown in the Swiss mountains of Graubünden. The flowers are cultivated by the herb farmer according to strict organic guidelines. The cornflowers are picked by hand during the flowering season and dried in the mountain air. The organic cornflower blossoms are ideal for decorating salads, desserts, chocolate, soups, meat dishes or pasta.

Edible flowers offer wonderful decoration possibilities for all kinds of treats. In addition to their beautiful colours, they have much more to offer. They have no taste of their own and so do not alter the flavour of the actual product. This makes them suitable for sweet treats such as Éclairs and Pralines, as well as for salads and savoury delicacies.

Application - Edible flowers

The blossoms are completely natural and can be eaten without any concerns. The drying process gives them a long shelf life and a distinctive appearance. They can be used for almost any dish. With salads, ravioli or a soup, the petals can simply be scattered over or around the dish.

If you want to create elegant Macarons with an original decoration, the piped shells are sprinkled with a few petals. It looks particularly stunning when the flowers and the shells are in slightly different colours. They hold well in the still-sticky batter, which then dries out and is baked. Bread can also be decorated in this way. If it doesn't stick well enough, simply brush with a little water or egg. The baking time should also be kept in mind here. Of course, the petals may darken, so it is best to use them on small rolls or to add them to large loaves only afterwards.

The range of applications for Edible flowers is enormous — you can also use them for most sweet pastries. Create beautiful Éclairs with a natural touch by scattering a few petals onto the still-soft icing. Cakes, cupcakes, biscuits, creams and much more can be decorated in much the same way. The dried petals adhere well to sticky substances such as Buttercream, various types of icing, soft Cake icing, toppings and creams.

If you'd like to use them on dried icings or Fondant-decorated treats, a little Edible glue is all you need as an aid. Simply brush the surface with it, scatter the petals on top and they'll hold perfectly.

Edible flower petals are also wonderfully suited to Pralines. First, the hollow shells are filled with a melt-in-the-mouth Ganache, then sealed with high-quality couverture. A few petals are placed on the still-soft couverture and, once it has dried, the Pralines are unmoulded and ready to give as a gift or to enjoy.
