What does a themed party need?

• Wafer paper cake toppers: printed discs that you lay on the cake – the quickest way to a character cake. Small ones are available for cupcakes.
• Cake toppers and figures: characters to stand on the cake that carry on playing in the nursery after the party.
• Candles: character candles and themed sets, plus number candles for the age.
• Tableware and decorations: paper plates, cups, napkins, tablecloths, balloons and garlands in matching designs.
• Baking: cupcake cases, sugar decorations and sprinkles, cookie cutters plus chocolate moulds and baking tins.

Tips for the themed cake

• Add the wafer paper last: place the topper shortly before the party on a smooth surface of fondant, marzipan or firm buttercream. On whipped cream the paper softens quickly.
• Stand figures on a plaque: a small fondant plaque under the figure means you can lift it off easily before cutting the cake.
• Biscuits to take home: cut-out biscuits in the party theme, wrapped individually, make a lovely gift for the little guests.
