WECK preserving clamps - Application
The WECK preserving clips are an essential accessory for preserving or keeping food fresh in WECK jars. They reliably secure the jar lid to the jar, both when preserving and when storing in the fridge. Tip: Pull the lid carefully. If it does not lift, the jar is securely closed.
How to use the WECK preserving clips correctly
When preserving in the preserving pot:
Prepare the jar: Fill the WECK jar, leaving about 1 to 2 cm free at the top.
Place the rubber ring on top: Place a clean, intact rubber ring on the rim of the glass.
Put on the lid: Place the lid in the center of the ring and make sure it is firmly seated.
Attach the clamps: Attach the preserving clips to the edge of the lid.
Preserving in the preserving pot: Place the jars in the preserving pot and heat them according to the instructions. A vacuum is created when they cool down.
Remove the clamps: Remove the clamps after complete cooling. The lid remains sealed by the vacuum.
How to preserve your dishes without a preserving pot
Cook in the oven:
Place the prepared jars in a cold oven. Turn the oven on to approx. 160-180°C (top/bottom heat) or 140-160°C (fan-assisted). The cooking time varies depending on the contents of the jar, but for most foods the cooking time is around 45-60 minutes. Check regularly to see if the jar is starting to boil (you should hear a slight pop).
Cooking in a saucepan:
Carefully place the jars in a large saucepan. The pot should be large enough so that the jars have enough space and do not touch each other. Fill the pan with hot water so that the jars are at least half covered with water, but preferably up to the rim. Slowly bring the water to the boil. Make sure that the water is not bubbling, but simmering gently so as not to damage the jars.
After boiling, reduce the heat to medium so that the water only simmers gently. The boiling time depends on the contents of the jars, but is usually around 30-60 minutes. Make sure that the water is always high enough to cover the jars. If necessary, add water to prevent the jars from overheating.
