Making cookie dough

Melt the butter in a small pan. The butter doesn’t need to be hot, just melted. Then pour it into a bowl. Add the icing sugar and the vanilla seeds, and stir the mixture with a hand mixer.

In a separate bowl, mix the whole egg with the milk and add the mixture to the icing sugar mixture a little at a time. Finally, sift in the flour and mix well once more until you have a smooth batter. At this stage, you can also easily mix in flavourings, gel food colouringsor ingredients such ascocoa nibsorfreeze-dried fruit. This allows you to customise the flavour of your waffles and tailor them to your personal taste.

Preheat your waffle iron to 180 °C. Once it has reached this temperature, spoon a tablespoon of the waffle batter into the centre of the iron and close the lid. Leave the waffle to cook for 1½ to 2 minutes. Then use a spatula to lift the cooked waffle from the hot iron and, using a cornet twister, twist it into a lovely waffle cone. Make sure your work surface is nice and flat and that you work really quickly when rolling it up. Under no circumstances should you let the waffle cool down, as it will otherwise become brittle.
